f53 rv with 460 efi won't start
I've had this RV for about 4 years now, and aside from working out bugs at the beginning, it has been reliable. The only wierd thing I've noticed is that once it is warmed up I have to give it a little gas when I restart it. Then the rmps fluctuate between 800 and a 1000 for about 15 seconds and then settles down to a nice idle.
Two days ago I was going about 65 when the engine died. I put it into neutral and tried to start it as it slowly ground to a halt. I haven't been able to start it yet and have been dry camping on the side of I75. It turns fine but doesn't catch.
First thing I did was checked the fluids. Oil was fine. The antifreeze is brownish. Then I checked the dog house.... I guess a squirel thought it would be a good place to stash its nuts. I imagine he was pretty disapointed when his stash rolled down the road!
Anyhow, here is a list of what I've done so far (in order)....
-replaced fuel filter (overdue anyway)
-replaced fuel pump relay
-replaced pmc power relay
-tested injectors with mechanics stethiscope. All of them double clicked at regular intervals.
-tested fuel pressure. 40 psi while cranking
-replaced map sensor
-replaced coil
-tested cylinder compression on passenger side. Between 85 and 110 lbs/in2
-all plugs on the passenger side had spark and smelled of gas
-replaced igition module
After I replaced the ignition module, the battery was too dead to turn it over. It's over at O'Reillies niw charging. Hopefully it will start right up, but I would appriciate any advise in case it doesn't. As much as I love the sound of traffic and the semi turbulance rocking me gently to sleep, I'ld like to get back on the road.
Here is my todo list for tomorrow on the off chance it doesn't start....
-add redundant ground to battery
-remove fuel rail to check the spray pattern of the injectors
-remove the ecm and check for leaky capacitors and broken solders.
Right now I suspect the ecm but I hope it's OK. Thanks in advance for any advice.
