Looks like part of the defroster duct was cut in addition to a small part of the heater box. Maybe PO was trying to get more heat out AKA another vent.

It looks like just the defroster was cut. There should be a foam gasket also to seal it up.

Now I am confused. Look at this one on e-bay. It looks just like yours. Mine doesn't, go figure. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-1974-1975-1976-1977-1978-1979-ford-truck-defrost-duct-f150-f250-f350-/161555443863?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item259d747097&vxp=mtr

That looks like a defroster vent from an a/c truck. See the pic I attached? See the 2 rectangle opening on the a/c box top?

Rear is for the defrost vent and the front is for the flex tube that goes to the center dash vents.

Your defrost vent looks like it would fit the a/c box? Do you think your truck was a/c at one time?

At least he should of put some duct vent foil tape on that big ol hole?

Looks like same pt# for the defrost vent a/c or none a/c.

See pt # 18490, but the none a/c vent looks to have a short flex adapter pt # 18547 ??

Anyone have an answer for original question of non fitting parts? I have same issue with doner heater box and defrost duct from a 79 bronco. Is there a gasket missing? Parts chart does not show a gasket?
