Transmission swap??

I've got a 89' f250 351 with a zf5 and a 83' f150 300 straight six with the granny four speed.
I'd like to swap my transmissions and put the zf5 behind the straight six, will they marry up or do I need to do a lot of retro fitting?? Thanks for any help

They Will fit. Look at my build thread. You'll have to get driveshafts cut and hope one of the cross members is useable for the farther back transmission. Then you'll need to either manually move your trans cover to fit, or use the zf5 one. It's a lot of work, but in hindsight it's easy job.

Found it.

I found it!! The biggest thing I was worried about was the bell housing marrying up and the pilot shaft on the transmission being the same.
Basically I'm wanting the overdrive in my 83'.

The 351, 302, & 300 all share the same bolt pattern so you can swap them all around, as well as the transmissions.

I *think* all the manuals have the same length shafts and are mounted in the same place, so it might be really straight forward. It's when you switch around with autos that length changes really enter in.

I wanted the diesel gear ratio but it wouldn't fit from the bellhousing. It bolted right up. My first experience with a internal slave. Not hard to bleed either. Coulda been worse

No the small block zf5 is around 2.t" longer then a 4x4 t18. I had to use the different ears for my crossmember drill a second hole and put a plate on my crossmember. Then I had about 2.5" cut and extended on my driveshafts(300$) .

However all the other manuals from that era are the same length.

What about the transfer case?

The transfer case on the 83' is in great shape can I use it on the back of he zf5 or will I need to use my one that's on there?

All Ford tcases mount to each other. They have the same output shaft and gasket.(until newer ones(superduty era and the split f150, and honestly I don't know if they are the same or not) )
