I need some help/advice. Last week I noticed a pretty bad oil leak in the front oil cooler seals. I bought seals and gasket kit and worked on it today. I removed oil, coolant, then removed oil filter side of the oil cooler and cooler pipe. I left the front cooler mount on truck. Got seals changed, re-assembled cooler, refilled oil first, then radiator fluid. Started truck and watched oil pressure come up, then looked underneath for leaks. Saw no leaks, then went to take cap off of degasser tank and was surprised by fresh engine oil pouring out of the top. Turned off truck and now looking for answers. The oiler cooler seemed in good condition, and have not had any oil in coolant before now. Its an early 99 7.3 with 285K miles on it. What do I need to do now? Does it sound like the cooler is bad? Why all the oil in radiator all of a sudden. How do I get this truck running again and get the cooling system back to good condition.
My thread on this has a lot of gotchas to look for. I made the mistake of having a shop do this for me, then I had to go in myself and fix the fix. Look at all the time I saved. [LINK]
