bricknose has an air cooled oil cooler, why not obs?

I am here at the pull yard, and all of the 87-91 1 ton trucks with a 460have an external oil cooler mounted in front of the condenser next to the transmission cooler. Is there any reason why the later model 460 trucks did not receive this cooler? And is it worth grabbing a few of them so that I can distribute them to somebody on the message boards who might want them?

Maybe cause the later 460 trucks had a oil-to-water heat exchanger between the oil filter and block. Just a guess, not sure if the bricks also had this.

you are right, I have the heat exchange oil cooler with the coolant. And thankfully it was brought to my attention, because that is where the leak of oil into my coolant system is residing. So I'm going to the pick your part yard tomorrow morning, to take a complete systemoff of a brick nose, clean it up with a new gasket and o-ring, and possibly new oil lines to the cooler, and put it on my system. I would rather have an oil leak from an air cooled set up, then one that mixes with the coolant.

A visit to the pull yard and I got what I need.I found a 1990 F 350 and I got the oil cooler adapter oil cooler off in about 5 minutes.I know those banjo bolts can be a real bear to get loose, so I just brought my battery powered impact wrench with a 19 millimeter socket and it worked just fine.

8mm socket for the mounting bolts, and 11mm socket to take the mounting frame off of the little radiator, in the cooler slid right over the torsion bar.

also snagged the lower radiator hose, all for a princely sum of 18. I will most likely get the hoses replaced, but it was nice that the whole thing pretty much came out in one piece.

the local yard had about ten of these trucks, so if anybody needs I do the oil cooler, or the filter mounting adapter, let me know and I can go grab one for you. They also had a couple of the trucks without the oil coolers, so if you just want to delete that part from the engine, they have those too.
