Mirror swap - new guy

Hi. I have a 1997 OBS f250 with the large oem gooseneck mirrors. The manual ones. I want to trade them out for the smaller oem ones. 1) are the drilled door holes the same? I don't want to drill any new holes 2) obviously I don't have the electronics etc installed. Nor do I have the controls on the inside. Do I need to have this installed to operate these mirrors Or can I just adjust them manually via roll the window down method? 3) if the above works, what do I use as a plug for the lower two holes? Does ford make plugs for this?

Thanks for your help.

Steve

Sport aka Nemo mirrors

Style #2?
Swing-a-ways

Style #3

Pretty sure they don't line up.
They have manual versions of the memos.
No ford to my knowledge doesn't sell plugs.
This is why aftermarket companies ask you if you have the "memo" mirrors or swing aways when you order doors.

Well don't do what I did and order them off of eBay. I put new ones I bought off of ebay on the truck six years ago and they've rusted away.

I am doing the same on our 92. If the truck was a F150 or didn't have a flatbed I wouldn't care.

The Ford swingaways sure seem to be the best quality, but for the price they'd better be! I paid about $300 to get two new mirrors from Ford last year. I think I'm glad I did it...

Nemo Mirrors. Like the movie, Finding Nemo(the fish with the bum fin)

The bolt pattern from the Nemos to the Swing away is Different.
The bolt battery from the Nemos to the Gooseneck mirrors is the same.

Nemos Come in power and Non power but in order to operate the power ones you need the Factory harness and connectors.

The Swing-a-ways and Gooseneck are Not available in power.

Also.. behind there Nemo mirror there is an outrigger that goes to the Inside door skin. The is a large sure hole in the door for the outrage to pass thru.

Ok. Looks like I'll be keeping the swing aways.... I will look into doing something custom with them via the local marine welder... Will post if I come up with something nifty.... Thanks for all your help. I'm also in the middle of lifting the truck a bit to achieve a better ride. I've owned the truck for 11 years and am finally in the place to begin doing mods I want. Almost sold it this year but decided to keep it and put money into it. I will be asking more newb questions so hopefully you will all not tire of my questions.

What don't you like about the swing-a-ways? other than no power?

1) I feel they are ugly in that they are too big. I don't hate them though. 2) more importantly they move around a ton in the wind when at highway speeds.

The aftermarket ones that rusted are worse than the eom ones in terms of jiggly ness though. Who knows maybe a custom cut of the aluminum and re fab is going to be cost prohibitive.

I've had both Nemo and swings ways on F250s and by far I like the visibility durability, and the handy handrest when cursing with the window down. Mine current truck has swing always and like DBrad mine are rock solid i do know you can tighten them up with a nut under the mirror if that is too loose I'd add a washer
