I bought a SCT tuner from 5 Star tuning...check google for them...they give you 5 custom dynoed tunes and I am more than pleased with them. I have a 99 5.4 f250 and it really improved the truck...I am surprised how much it did for the truckand the fact that I drove it for so many years as it was was and to feel it now...well I cannot say enough good about this tuner with CUSTOM tunes from 5 star.

SOLOLUCKY,

Thank you for the recommendation! Happy to read that you are pleased with the way your 5.4 is now running and get your truck where it is supposed to be!

fordexpstang,

There are many ways to bring these motors to life. The most popular 3 in terms of performance and bank for your buck are custom tunes, air intake and a new y-pipe.

Now I just wish I woulda ordered the truck with the 4,10 gears !
Cuz I always add bigger tires and the 4.10's woulda been much better for the pulling I do.
I saw the Y pipe deal when I ordered the tuner but didn't want to open that door of modifying the exhaust so high up in the engine bay...Kinda wish I woulda ordered it tho as it was a good deal when buying both at the same time.

change the gears in the rear end. its a lot cheaper , less complicated, and wont introduce gremlins elsewhere.

anything that changes the fuel ratio for more power will create more heat, stress cat converters, O2 sensors, etc.
