Dang, I thought that I was the only one who had received strongly worded letters (tho never a ban). I made the mistake of chiming in on an F53 chassis engine problem (Ford V10 powered for those who aren't RVers) thread and was told by a mod that since my V10 was in an F350 I didn't have a clue about that motor but not as nicely as that. I'll keep trying for 'fame' there as well as iRV2.
I think it's funny how most people think that internet forums all embody free speech.. Indeed, when you are on a forum, you are subject to the rules (published or not) and whims of the owner of that forum.
It's best to think of them as benevolent dictatorships...
It's always been this way and I go back (forum wise) since I ran a FidoNet BBS back in the early 80's..
All that said, I am saddened to hear of the moderation style they have there since I am also a member there and other RV forums. I rely on these forums to be a good knowledge base of information on things I have interest in.
Oh, and I am also a Moderator / Administrator on a couple of other forums. I don't take the role lightly and I do try to be fair and even-handed. Sometimes it is difficult.
One of the things I like best about FTE is that there are mostly open minds here, not just "FORD is the best, everything else is crap". Everyone here is not forced to sing the same song. Plenty of great opinions.
When members make valid arguments that GM or RAM are the best, I read and consider. Maybe they are and certainly could be in the posters situation. Although I only own Fords today, I don't consider myself a Ford-man. I like what some of the other manufacturers are doing too.

I think FTE is the best place EVER, and I frequent a lot of places.
I think FTE's tone is a testament to the moderators behavior and consistency.
I have to admit the FTE is pretty dang good as well and pretty liberal in their way of going about business.
If I don't like the tone or direction of a thread on any site, I've finally gotten to the point that I will usually unsubscribe or stop posting to that particular one. A couple of the car forums I'm on the mods also will watch but not tamper unless it gets personal or downright nasty.
I think all of the big 3 trucks have their advantages. I just feel that Ford has more of them that appeal to me. If you prefer Ram or GM I'll respect your opinion. That's what makes the world go round. If there was only one manufacturer you would have no choice and they could cram anything they wanted down your throat.

Couldn't agree more and wow did you bring me back talking about FidoNet...
A similar thing happen to me on HDforums, I was letting folks know how bad this audio product was and used the word suck. And this guy that works for another audio brand chimed in stating how bad that was. What surprised me was the support I got from the other folks on the forum. It got pretty heated. But I didn't get banned.
I'm on a few other RV forums. I think my favorite is RV forums community. Get some good help there. I just got a Voltage toy hauler fifth wheel, after owning a bumper pull trail trailer.

Even FTE wasn't always the way it is now. It used to be much more strict and don't you dare question a moderator. Lifetime bans were given out pretty easily here back in the day...
You got it. It's cool how Fords and Harley s go hand and hand. American pride! I've had one foreign car in my life. (Lexus)
As did we. We finally got rid of it last week. It had more recalls and was in for more warranty work than my 6.0

That's a big 10-4.
I can remember discussions getting way out of hand.
