Couldn't find a defintive answer on rearching

I might buy new springs from ATS and instead of grtting front shackles with the V codes they reccomended rearching them for 2 more inches of lift. The majority seem to say old springs rearched will sag again but what about new springs?

Springs made new with a different arch than OEM spec will be fine. They're being made from scratch to a different spec than stock.

Re-arching old springs is what leads to sagging.

The 2" full shackle kit was a bit of a chore to install, but I'd rather have lift obtained that way plus spring than through a more severe arch, which will be more resistant to flex. Kinda need that flex to soften the ride.

Nah, they sag about 1/2" in 100k miles. My shackles have kept my springs the same for 3 years. Not even 1/8" difference.

Not saying you don't know but the arch is exactly the same after installing shackles but many assume they have changed due to the way they look from the side. I agree the re-arching springs probably compromises the integrity of it. My 1.5" shackles were a breeze to put in.

We know of some guys in the industry who arch new or old springs by adding heat to them. This is a complete no no. That is what will mess with the steel and make things weaker.

When we re-arch we always do it cold. That way we are putting the least amount of stress on the steel and it can still keep its strength and arch. Will the spring lose it's arch over time, yes but that won't be because you re-arched it, that is just the nature of it.

Agreed, I kind of wrote that in a way that made sense in my head but didn't really translate well.

Shackles were easy minus the passenger side frame bolt and the exhaust heat shield. 4" exhaust made it a very tight squeeze and required a pry bar or two. The front drop mounts were an absolute bitch. Then the front mil-wrap spring eye got jammed up in the front mounts... It was a very bad day lol.
