No. Turn the key on and while your glow plugs are heating, depress the accelerator about half way down and let it back up. That will set the fast idle.
Okay cool I looked yesterday and the wire was unplugged from the sensor. I didn't have time to get in there and plug it back in as I was in a hurry but I will get in there today and see if I can plug it in and hope it works after that!
use patience and you will have no problem. try to rush it and you will only screw it up. it is VERY TIGHT in there. like i said earlier, i use a set of 18 inch needle nose pliers because my paws are way to big and fat to fit anywhere close to the plug or sensor.
So I was able to get the connector plugged in and when I went to start it the plunger looking thing looked to be extended but my idle didn't change at all when I started the truck.
it will only work in the engine temperature is under around 100-120 degrees.
anything over 100-120 it shuts off to cut back on the timing advance because the advance circuit in the injector pump runs off the same sensor. .

Okay so the true test will be the first start of the morning! I will reply back with a result tomorrow. Thanks again.
Sorry old thread, but does anyone know where the temp switch gets its power from? I tried tracing it back but its a little difficult with all the covering on the wires, and a wiring diagram would be much easier. I'm in the process of wiring up a custom switch to allow me to kill the power and shut down the high idle when desired, I also might run direct power just to the idle solenoid to be able to force high idle at any temp.
