I have noticed that my heater seems to blow cold air then hot, then back to cold. Even when truck is running 200* heat used to burn you out of cab, now it will still get that hot, but it seems like every now and then (usually when i left off of accelerator) feels like dial got turned to cold air! Don't know is this is actually a super duty issue or a 6.0 issue. Thanks
(most likely) The blend door motor(actuator) needs to be replaced in the air plenum. If you have standard climate control (not dual zone) search in the tech section. I wrote up the change out procedure for an 08. Not sure if the 05 is the same...likely not but it may be close?
I thought about that, however is the door moving when the temp is set to all the way hot? I have the standard 3 dial HVAC controls in my truck, no climate control and no digital panel, just 3 *****. This happens multiple times where it runs from hot to cold, but **** is always set on hot. Thanks
That is what I am thinking senix. Question is, how did it get there, and how do I get it out? I know my Degass bottle is probably low, or empty, and probably has a crack in the back (don't they all), but if I refill it, will that work the ari out of the system? Had system flushed and cleaned and bottle changed probably 18 months ago and it worked good after that til this winter. Thanks
The door will still move. But while its activated it will lose its mind and wander back n forth while your driving causing the hot and cold wander.
Also as senix mentioned be sure the coolant is topped off. Whens the last time the cooling system was serviced(flushed)? What about the TStat? Feel the hoses leading to the heater when the heat drops off. If the hoses are hot Id lean towards the blend door actuator. If the hoses are not hot then TStat or level.
