OK went to do the basic intake mods today (thank you Mr. Gott, where ever you are), but I could not for the like of me get the rubber flex couplings off of either end of the silencer in order to remove the restrictive inner tube. Is it possible that the rubber pieces are molded on or even glued on when they are manufactured?
At first I thought it was just heat that caused a semi permanent fit, but I could see the outline of the flat head screwdriver in the couplings as I tried to pry them off, and could not push the screwdriver past 1/8 of an inch all the way around each coupling. Additionally, the TB to silencer coupling slid right off the TB with no trouble, so I doubt heat was the cause.
I just replaced the 2 inch inlet tube from the fender well to the air cleaner with a 3 inch PVC coupling and butt up against the finder. Why are you removing the rubber couplings after the air cleaner ?
