My Excursion has 190k miles and the time has come for new ball joints. I would like to do everything at once. Can I get help with a list of parts I need to order besides the ball joints. What about the bearings? Should I just install new ones?
Brake pads, rotors, hubs, upper and lower ball joints, u-joints, you can clean and grease your existing hubs or replace if they are in really bad shape (mucho expensive) id go with warn if you have to replace. Haha this list could go on and on if your ball joints are bad probably could do all your tie rod ends as well, i did all this when i first got my truck i also threw in a new steering box too, the peace of mind from all new was great and not to mention the steering was much tighter and handling much improved.
I just started getting a squeak. I think its my left lower ball joint. I really don't want to do this job myself at least right now.. as it was -5 degrees out when I woke up today. I have been quoted 3 hrs a side labor to do lower and upper and new u joints. My ford mechanic said.. ball joints, u joints and axel seal, dust shield, knuckle seal. her eis a good link to the parts. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...4-vs-05-a.html
So has anyone here had bad luck with moog? I see most recommend xrf.
i would do everything at once and use XRF ball joints
Thank you for the link. I am using Raybestos ball joints. There are enough negative comments on XRF ball joints to keep me away. Plenty of people say they are great the week after installation, but not after a number of miles. Also, why are their part numbers the same as Moog(I don't want them either).

Uuuhhh I don't know where you're hearing all this bad information about XRF ball joints but from my personal experience they performed MUCH better than the Raybestos I replaced.
This was a 2004 Dodge RAM 2500 Diesel. I replaced the balljoints when I bought it with Raybestos and 15000 miles later there were completely shot.
The Moog track bar bushing also didn't last more than 3/4 months.
This is all city/hwy driving and I never pulled anything.
In Dodge world the XRF ball joints are very highly regarded and those trucks are well known to be very hard on front ends.
OK, I will research further and post links. Don't have time now. But I still won't buy them because of their webpage.
Personally I know where I stand with XRF products from my own experience so as of this sitting links wouldn't sway my opinion.
I am currently using XRF product in my vehicle as we speak and will happily continue to use it until something changes to make me think otherwise.
The XRF website might be lame but I wouldn't let marketing affect my judgement on a product if I felt it was otherwise solid. Although there have definitely been times when that was not the case
I called XRF today to see where their plant was. The guy told me Taiwan. Not big deal to me but I remember reading a thread somewhere that it was in the US.
