Greetings! I usually hang out over on the 48 - 56 F1 Forum, but I have a question about an Explorer diff I'm putting under my '49 F1. Can someone tell me what a good source would be for replacement (I don't have) the shock mounts that bolt to the bottom of the axle tube with the U-bolts? Maybe a part number if I have to go to FoMoCo. Also, unfortunately, this diff is not a limited slip. I'm looking for a good source to look for a limited slip set up to slip into the case. Thanks in advance!
I've never used them, so I can't vouch for their service, but they seem to have a lot of detail parts that most parts warehouses don't carry. If you had asked about 6 months ago, I could have sent the parts when I did an axle swap on my '98.
Lots of folks make limited slip setups. It comes down to how much you want to spend. Are you looking for new or used? There are plenty in the junkyards near me. You can get a complete limited slip axle assembly for under $200.
Mike, thanks for the reply! My closest wrecking yard, about 60 miles away, wanted $50 to pull those two plates. I've looked pretty hard on Craig's List, but haven't found a diff within a couple hundred miles for less then $450. Thanks for the link, I'll give them a try. Appreciate the response back!

I frequent the self-serve type yards. The yards that pull the parts for you will charge quite a bit more. $450 sounds steep, but I'm wondering if that included calipers and rotors. Those goodies will add to the cost.
If you ever get to Spokane and can spend some time there, you'll find a number of yards there with a pretty good selection.
