Dif identification?

I have my 3rd member out , it is out of a 71' F100 4x4. I have it sitting on my bench because I am installing a powertrax locker in it. The directions say If your vehicle has a limited- slip differential, it will be necessary to purchase a standard differential case assembly, cross pin, retaining pin, and side gear thrust washer for your axle. The tag from my rear dif shows that it is a limited- slip I believe because ...it reads 3L50 9 . 3363a. But how do I tell by looking at the third member ? I have it on the bench and want to know if I can tell if it is limited-slip or not by looking at it? The tag could have been put on by the smart *** kid I bought the truck from years ago. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks

Do a google picture search or find a manual at the library. Or find an open diff and if it looks way different..................

If you spin one axle with your hand, the other one should spin the same way if its a Limited Slip. If its an open diff, the axles will spin in opposite directions.
