Steering issue
I have a 2008 F-250 super duty and the steering wheel moves right to left very violently. It is an intermittent problem but happens a lot. We have not had it off road much, mainly pavement driving. We carry a load of firewood couple times a year so we really are not working it hard. We have checked the lock out hubs, ball joints and tie rod ends and they all seem to be fine. The tires seem to be wearing fine as well. After doing some research and talking with ford we arrived at a bad steering gearbox. Being that ford does not have a replacement available we ordered one through JC Whitney. After replacing the steering gearbox it drove fine for the first ten miles and then it started the right and left motion again. The pump sounds good and the fluid levels are fine. I have no clue at this point other than to just start changing parts out. I am not fond of parts changing. The truck is to dangerous to drive. I am in desperate need of any advice you all may have. Steering gearbox adjustment
I have been informed that the adjusting bolt on the steering box could be adjusted too tight. Does anyone have any experience with this adjustment, if so please let me know if this could be what is causing a remanufactured unit to cause this issue thanks
