I did a search and found the thread for the radio that would work to replace the factory radio in our trucks. But one website does not pull up the other no longer lists that radio. Anyone tell me what happened? Is that radi no longer produced?
My wife bought me a retro radio from Bronco Graveyard for my Christmas present. As far as I know they are still selling them as late as two weeks ago. BTW, it works great and has Bluetooth for your phone as well.
The only real noticeable difference is the **** centers are chrome instead of white.

My truck never had a radio installed so what's a good place to mount a radio/speakers?
Guess that depends on what you are after. The speaker from the factory (dealer installed option) was above the radio in the top of the dash. There is a grill that go on top of the dash. Speaker was a 5x7 I believe. The radio went in the dash between the ashtray and the instrument panel It required drilling 5 holes three different sizes. But if you want to go aftermarket then you mount the radio in the same place as where the original would go and you can put your speakers where ever you want them. Before I restored my truck I had cut the dash and installed an am fm cassette deck and mounted speakers to the kick panels on both sides. People mount them in the doors or under the seat you name it.
I recently bought the Retrosound Huntington from Crutchfield for $325. It's a great radio! .. and I was leary after my experience with a crappy Custom Autosound radio for my Mustang.
jmf66 can you hook that up to just the dash speaker? Would be willing to hide a couple of speakers under the seat but in a 64 there is not a lot of room and I am not willing to put any new holes in my restoration after I took the time to weld all non factory holes up. Shadow123 I have the original radio which does not work worth a darn and 2 others that don't work worth a darn either. I would send it one or all of them in for repair if I knew a good place to send them. Any ideas? I'd keep just the AM as we have a couple good country stations and 1 talk radio station that switches to a 50's and 60's rock and roll format on the weekends. Good for weekend drives.
I wouldn't hook a stereo to a single speaker, but they have single speakers with dual voice coils to hook up both right and left sides. That's what I have in mine. It's not a lot of bass, but it sounds pretty good and it went into the original speaker location on my '66. I'm not sure if the 64 is the same or not.
