I didn't remember the word but I remembered the situation. The left leaning media brutilized him forever. He was pretty much useless in the political arena after that.

It was the teacher that made the mistake is what happened.

Mr. Quayle was being diplomatic. No good deed goes unpunished with our fellow travelers. Trust me.

Quayle made the mistake, he claimed the (I assume que) cards provided by the school spelled potatoe this way.

But, this poor excuse proved...that he didn't know how to spell it!

About this same time, Prez Bush also made a couple of statements that were soon ridiculed by the press:

"We are winning the war on drugs." & "Read my lips, no new taxes." It wasn't too long after making this statement, that he raised the taxes!

But the cards did spell it that way. What makes you think he didn't know that?

What he should have said was "what kind of dumb *** made these cards up?" There's no winning when the press is gunning for ya Bill. In any event, both parties suck, and the press is worse. But that's not news.

If Quayle knew that...why didn't he spell it correctly?

Because...he didn't know how to spell it correctly.

The thing is, we didn't have Fox News back then. If we had, they would have gone 'to bat' for Quayle.

As y'all know, most of the news media are bleeding heart 'do-gooder' liberals.

Went under the hood this morning and noticed 2 were loose. Tightened them up and no more ticking! Thanks

I couldn't agree more Bill. That's what Ted and I were referencing. I am glad you said it straight out. Helps me have faith in the American Voter.
Sorry OP for steppin' on your thread a bit.
