I have an 83 F250 with a 460 currently in it. The motor is getting up there in miles and is starting to give me problems. I've been doing some research into how different the cabs between the years of 83-97 are because I'm considering buying a 94-97 powerstroke truck and then swapping my 83's nose and bed onto the new truck once I've stripped the older nose and bed off. I'd like to leave the cab alone so I don't have to mess with the dash and wiring. Is it possible to bolt the 83 nose up to the newer cab? Anybody done it before?
yes it can be done fairy easy.
the big difference between the years is front end and bumper mounts.
years ago at the body shop we put a 92 nose on a 85 truck because the owner wanted the newer look.
it will take a little work to get everything perfect, but not a real hard job.
just remember, you need to use everything from the year nose you want to run. the radiator support is the key to making things work properly, because that is what the fenders and grill mount to.
So does that mean I'd have to fabricate the rad support to fit the powerstroke radiator? If I remember correctly the powerstroke rad supports don't go straight across on the bottom but have a bump out on them. Am I correct?
