So my blower motor would make a annoying vibrating noise at lower speeds and only sounded normal when on full speed. So I decided to investigate it today. I found the fan covered in tons of dirt. So I cleaned it and cleaned the motor with some electronic cleaner and now it runs like new no annoying noise! Must have been out of balance with all the dirt. Check out all the dirt in the picture.
And what does this control?? I have never seen it in any other position. I broke the vacuum line to it taking the blower out but was probably had a leak in it already, very brittle. All my heat and a/c controls still work.
Yep that hose must have leaked long ago. I have never seen it in a different position when I fixed the a/c this summer. And would explain why I never felt a difference between norm and max a/c.

Mine does the same thing on low. On the next notch it kind of whistles but you can barely hear it but I'd like to be able to use low w/out getting a headache.
What all is involved in getting the fan out? I'm guessing taking off the hood cowl and wipers then going in from there?

On my 1990 it was only 4 bolts to remove the blower motor and fan (under the hood). (the second pic I have is the top of the blower motor housing) I'm not sure if it is the same on your truck? 1993? I think it might be similar?? I pulled the 4 bolts and the motor and fan came out as 1 assembly. I cleaned it and put it back in. The motor had a tube in it that comes off and that was where I sprayed electronic cleaner in to clean out the motor after I cleaned the fan.
Hope this helps you. If not I'm sure others will help!! And if you need more pics I will take them of my truck to see if that is what you have to help.

So with this latest cold spell, my blower motor squeals for the first 60 seconds and then goes quiet. Anybody have tips on how to easily relube the bushings? And what type of oil/grease do you use?

After I cleaned mine I just sprayed some wd-40 on the front one from the outside and sprayed some on the rear one through the hole where I sprayed the electronic cleaner.
