I'm not much of a mechanic, and just found this great site. I have only done simple things like oil changes/filters/brakes/etc.
My 64K miles 2001 Sport Trac fan for the AC is making a loud humming noise today (louder at higher speeds). All speeds still work, but the noise is getting louder.
I'm guessing it's the blower motor, but am not sure if it could be something else.
If it is the blower motor, can anybody tell me where it is (how to get to it to replace it)?
I would love a linf....my 2004 f 150 is screaming at me and louder at higher fan speeds I guess squrril cage or blower moter...i droped the glove box and it looks like a bunch of worms in there mike in omaha
I had a similar problem on my 94. Turned out that the housing that covers the blower motor in the engine compartment was loose. I simply tightened down the few loose bolts.....no more noise. I'm also thinking that this housing is attached to or actually part of the blower motor. Why else would the cage rub? It wasn't that loose either. Just enough to get it off kilter so it would rub I guess.
