just drove with the ebp disconnected and had same problem. it does not seem to happen till about 175 to 180 oil temp. Do you know of anything specifically that changes around that point. Also the only thing really close to the shroud I removed to replace the tensioner is the egr throttle plate. could that cause a problem.
As stated unplug icp, and road test. If it goes away replace sensor and connector.
If its still there plugb the icp back in its not your issue.
Next unplug the ebp and retest, if it goes away its probably a bad vgt selinoid.
Disconnecting the vgt wount help. Try the above disconnecting of the ebp.
no I didn't remove it but the wiring is right there. just think its weird it happened after the tensioner replacement. I can't find any of the obvious things that seem to be common. I think I going to try the relearn in the morning and take the elbow off. the ex's are a little different than the trucks they kept the 04 motors until the very end of 05 I believe.
Hot idle it doesn't 't always happen and im not sure about the IAT's because it list 2 in the dashboss options but obviously one isn't right. Not sure if it a dual element and try's to show both and one is bad or one is mislabeled. initially the inlet air and the iat that reads the same were not reading the same

Reason: update
for all those lucky enough to get the 04 updates with the egr throttle plate it isn't needed until its needed. Finally unplugged it and all problems went away. I need to find a P&ID for the egr system to understand what was going on. I thought is simply let the egr valve have more or less exhaust gas to work with . I must be wrong. thanks for the help everyone
That's why guys are taking the Butter Fly out it wouldn't matter, yours must have been stuck in-between open /closed. So How she running now after finding this and what EGR PIDs do you need?
Its running well i need to pull the butterfly plate off and hook it back up because im not sure it it has any effect on anything else. the P&ID i was talking about was a piping and instrumentation diagram. I'm a controls tech thats why im amazed at how much goes into these I thought they were still fairly simple. The 6.7 is pretty complex compared to a older motor and I didn't think the 6.0 was really instrumented until after dealing with it. I love the motor and truck and now that im learning more im realizing this is not a set it and forget motor and if you dont treat it that way it will probably last a long time.
