Hello All,
I finally took my new to me 06 6.0 on a decent drive today, from CT to New York City, about 90 miles total. The truck ran phenomenally on the highway, really impressed how smooth it was on the highway. It's when I got to a toll both before the bridge when I started noticing something weird.
The truck was driven on the highway at 75 for about an hour straight.
I came to a stop and the truck started idling roughly. It was not terrible, but noticeable, and heart breaking for new 6.0 owner skeptical of the motor. When I accelerated from the stop, at about 1500rpm it would go away and the truck would be perfectly fine. The same would happen about 1500rpm if I put the truck into neutral and revved it up.
This is pretty intermittent and does not happen every time I stop. I have been driving the truck for a week on the Connecticut country roads and have never noticed any issue. Could someone please provide some insight?
Might be time to pull the EGR Valve and clean it up , long periods of Idling will soot some things up. while your in there the IAT2 sensor that's located behind the upper fuel bowl. clean these up with Carb cleaner, a tooth or plumbers flux brush works well , try not to get the carb spray into the little holes in the EGR Valve I wrap a rag around it . Do you have any Gauges to Monitor sensor Values? this would help.
Oh and ware your Safety Glasses that stuff Burns like
Start with cleaning and checking the egr valve .... Assuming you still have the egr cooler in place. Clean ebp, map, and iat2 sensors also. If that doesn't work, we need some live data.
