6.0 Running rough at idle.....
Driving today and everything was great, stop at a stop light and my truck at idle is running very rough shaking the cab. i take off and it running crappy then it cleans out and runs normal. Changed fuel filters 10/08 and have about 5-6,000 miles on them. Is it possible to be filters or something else.

Fuelboy, Same thing happened to me a few months back at a traffic light. Ran crappy,shaking, had to feather the throttle to keep it running. Lots of black smoke. Cleared up in about a minute, and ran great the rest of the way home. Pulled the EGR valve (learned how on this site) cleaned and replaced using same o rings, Problem hasn't returned. Instructions are in the tech manual. Hope this helps you, with no warantee left at least it's cheap.................Bob

running rough 6.0
Pulled the EGR out and cleaned it up, The tech section is awesome. It did help but still running and little rough, but after I started the truck and let in run I reved the motor and it blew black smoke with oil/fuel out the tailpipe onto my driveway? Just losing the battle with this truck.

The EGR valve itself can have a weak spring or bad actuator. There was a bad batch of them made as well. Do you have any DTC's (Diagnostic trouble Codes)? You can have a code without the CEL. These codes can help point you in the right direction so you don't just throw parts at it.
