Ive got a 1977 f100 3spd on the column with the 300. Lately ive been getting a squealing noise just when the clutch pedal is pushed in. Ive read that it could be a throwout bearing or pilot bearing but I don't know for sure. It squeals whenever the clutch pedal is pushed in but it never makes a noise while the clutch is engaged. Any help would be appreciated, thanks
Yes, throwout bearing.
When you replace it, replace the clutch disc and pressure plate too. Resurface the flywheel also. Probably don't need to do anything with the pilot bearing (bushing), these rarely go bad.
As long as the throw out bearing will last 5 min, 5 miles or 5 months? When it quits it will be like the clutch is not even being pushed in, even when you are pushing it in.
Meaning it can be like driving it WITHOUT a clutch.
