Watch those car washes too. Many are too short. The only car washes I use are the conveyer style where nothing swings behind the vehicle.

I don't use car washes much but in the winter I have limited options. The ones by my house must have some sort of truck mode. All the SUV's and Trucks that go through get the back washed by hand and the machine doesn't go around the back. I thought they were just trying to do a good job but maybe it's because the vehicles don't fit?

Glorified station wagon.
From a kid-hauler-Suburban to a soccer dad shortbed. Nah, no complaints here. It's a good looking luxury truck that gets me to a business meeting on Monday and the lumber yard on Saturday.

not much at the lumber yard. Mu volvo station wagon could haul more. If not weight, definitely lumber. I know I went the wagon route over a truck because it was more practical for a time.

,

Now I would do a wagon, I'm thinking an early 60's Ford Ranch Wagon though.

LOL! I will admit that I never saw that one coming!
But you sure didn't think that through before you talked.

Funny. I had an old Saab hatchback that was the same - 6' clear of perfectly flat floorspace with the rear seat folded. The Swedes knew what they were doing back then.

A custom made truck cover is available from several sources, but it soon gets tiresome removing then reinstalling the cover.

Our house was erected in 1985, it has a 3 car attached garage.

Before I bought a 2011 F150 Lariat Super Crew w/5.5 bed (same 231.9"), I told the dealer I'm going to have to drive the truck to the house, to make sure it fits in the garage.

Dealer balked, as it would have been about a 30 miles R/T. I told the dealer he had two choices: Either I drive it to the house, or I go to another dealer.

It fit into the garage with about 8" to spare.

The garage sure is an issue. We (luckily) have a 24' x 24' garage, so we have plenty of room. For me, the 5-1/2' box is "almost" useful; just not quite. The 6-1/2' is a compromise I'm willing to take. Wouldn't be able to geta super-crew + 8' box unless I upgraded to a super duty. But that is a bigger nut than I want to chew.

If I didn't have my 67 Cougar in the garage my super crew F150 with the 6.6 bead would fit. Since I park out side I'm free to get any truck.

The 5 1/2 ft bed that I have had on my last few trucks has been fine for what I need.

You guys are killing me! Too long? I had a 2010 Crew cab 8ft bed, then had to upgrade to a 2011 Crew cab 8ft bed to two the fifth wheel. Both were my daily drivers. Yes, you had to pay attention to what you were getting yourself into, but besides almost all the Starbucks and some fast food places, I could go anywhere I wanted.....except the garage of course. But then my daily driver at work was a 40ft.long, 9.5' 76,000 straight frame Fire Dept. ladder truck.

Because of you guys I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a F150 crew cab with a 6.5 ft. bed, about ready to settle for the extended cab version. They are almost impossible to find even in a XLT version out here in the PNW.

If you want the longer bed take a look at the super duty trucks

Around here it literally was impossible to find a 6-1/2' box at any dealer in the state. We had to order ours.
