The tun into my local Starbucks is kind of hard to make with the longer bed truck.
There is a Panda Express in my area that might beat all. Drive-thru has small cars at full steering lock. I have to walk in.
Leaving the parking lot is even worse. You come up to the parking lot exit driving parallel to the road, not nose out to the road. A right-hand turn is a full 180. Long wheelbase crew cab..... LOL! I have to wait for all 4 lanes of traffic to clear.
They do the bulk orders in the stereotypes of the buyers. Most folks who get a truck that nice do use it more as an SUV than a truck. 6.5 is nice because you can put full 8' lumber diagonally in the bed with the gate up, but I'll bet plenty of Platinum's never see anything more than geraniums when they visit Home Depot.

I will admit this is nice, but over about 4 maybe 6 8'-2x4s and then it doesn't work as well. I do not have nor ever want a Platinum, but I am going to the 5.5' bed for the next truck. I have done parking lot design, and never is one going to be designed a lot that fits the 6.5' turning radius, you lose too many parking spots in the longer run. Unless you are willing to the the 97(exaggerated) point turn it is impossible to even take the truck to the grocery store after you bought the lumber.
On the second thought, even with the 5.5' I will still probably park in the back 40 with all the other trucks because I trust those guys and gals not to swing a door into the side of my truck or take their carts back to a corral.
I'm not a big fan of the 5.5 box but the CC 6.5 box won't fit in most standard garages.
F150 Super Crew with 5.5 bed is 231.9" long (*), will fit in standard (20') garages.
F150 Super Crew with 6.5 bed is 243.7" long, won't fit in most garages, so it will sit out in the driveway in all sorts of weather.
A custom made truck cover is available from several sources, but it soon gets tiresome removing then reinstalling the cover.
Our house was erected in 1985, it has a 3 car attached garage.
Before I bought a 2011 F150 Lariat Super Crew w/5.5 bed (same 231.9"), I told the dealer I'm going to have to drive the truck to the house, to make sure it fits in the garage.
Dealer balked, as it would have been about a 30 miles R/T. I told the dealer he had two choices: Either I drive it to the house, or I go to another dealer.
It fit into the garage with about 8" to spare.
*Overall lengths are from the 2015 F150 sales brochure.
I drive a platinum, didn't even have 200 miles on it before hauling the first load of rocks. This weekend I'm helping my daughter move. I'm always doing something where the extra bed length is nice.
The dealers in my area do the same thing with the 5.5 box, and it seems that black is a color they think will sell. If i do find a 157 wheel base its almost always black. I currently have a 145 inch wheel base super cab 6.6 ft bed and want to jump up to a crew cab but that 157 inch wheel base is going to be a pain. I have problems now with parking in some area's around New Jersey with the 145 inch wheel base and an extra foot of length on the truck will make difference.
Its not getting into a parking space that's the problem its the truck sticking out of the space that kills me, like if you park in a airport parking garage or a downtown area to do some shopping. I think the longer wheelbase would make towing long distance a little better but i believe spec wise you lose about 200 lbs capacity with the longer truck.
The crew cab with the long (6-1/2') box is a lot of vehicle. We measured 20' bumper to bumper. But the 5-1/2' box was not useful to us. We just have to phone ahead to make a U-turn.
There are some spots I stick out kind of far. I did learn all the garages (and flat lots) in the city that can easily handle the longer trucks. If I'm going someplace that I'm unfamiliar with I do a little recon with google maps. You'll be good at reversing into spots, it's much easier to park and get out that way.
