Throttle Body

Hey guys! This is my first post, excited to join the forum! I recently got a 2014 F150 STX with the Coyote 5.0. I've gotten it tuned by 5-Star Tuning, and I run the 93 Octane performance tune on a regular basis. I'm planning on getting an AFE stage 2 dry intake, and a Flowmaster Outlaw catback exhaust system soon. I considered a TBS but I've heard they don't work well. So my question is, does a slightly bigger throttle body offer any gains? I've been considering an 85mm Throttle Body

Opening up the throttle body will shift the torque curve up a little. A larger opening will cause a little drop off on the low end due to the lower air velocity caused by the larger opening. But the larger opening will allow higher air velocity at higher rpm's. It's a trade off and since the gain will be only on the high end I tend to like to have more bottom end because that is where the engine operates the most.

To make the most of opening up the intake you need to open up the exhaust, not just cat back but also consider high flow cats. The intake, cam, valve sizes, and exhaust all work together.

Have fun modifying
