throttle body porting...
I have a 91 F150 with a 302, and was wondering if i could port the throttle body and if it would help any. Lately ive been reading round the net people that have ported their throttle bodies to smooth out the air flow and have seemed to gain a little. Just wondering if any of you have done this. I dont have the money for a new throttle body so i thought this might be a cheap alternative for now. Thanks.

I would think you would have to have the entire upper intake "ported" to the t/b to have any noticable affect. I would just ad a K&N cold air kit and a good exhaust system and run it that way,

accually you can just buy TP's that have been ported to a bigger size like dual 51mm or if you have the 460 its a dual 61mm TP. and no it dose not reqire any resizing of the rest if the intake.

I know that i can already buy them ported, but like i said money is an issue right now. And from what ive seen as long as im very careful i can port it myself and i think i might try it out.

throttle body porting...
Here's the problem with trying to port a throttle body. You can in fact make the orfice bigger but now the throttle butterfly has no way of working correctly as it will be too small to fill the new surface area. The only fix is to get a larger throttle plate/butterfly to match your new diminsions. Problem is, no such upsized plates exist for sale to the best of my knowledge.
