Started up this morning just fine even though it was -6.
Moved around my yard loading stuff for work , I noticed radio wasn't working so I turned truck off and was going to restart and see if that did anything.
Wouldnt do anything after I shut it off.
All the lights etc work but truck wont turn over or even try.
I cleaned battery terminals as they were pretty corroded, but didn't change anything.
I heard some clicking in the dash and took off fuse panel door and traced it to the starter relay.
Tried another relay and it didn't make any difference.
Try hitting the back cap of the starter motor. Check voltage at large lug on starter solenoid. Should be constant batt voltage. Check voltage on small trigger lug when key is in start position. If both are good....suspect starter.
So what does the voltage do when you turn the key to start?
If it nosedives to next to nothing, you've got a voltage issue. If it sits at 12+ volts and doesn't even notice the key turn, you've got a wiring, fuse, relay, starter issue.
Try checking the starter relay on the passenger side finder see if poeer is going through that they are known to go out not sure if it will tie into your radio issue or not

Being a 2002, it will not have a fender mounted starter relay. It will just have the one on the starter itself.
Have u tried either holding up on the shifter or starting in neutral?
Yup did that lol , wife had it towed from town one day because sometimes you have to hold up on shift lever.
She was in the Tim Hortond drive through and shut it off and didn't know about shift lever lol , I got full blame.

Ill try in the morning but Im not the best with a ampmeter
If you want to see if the starter is good, you can take a jumper and jump te starter. On the passenger side fender, by the vaccume pump, you will find a yellow wire that can't be disconnected. That is your starter wire from the key.
Disconnect it and jump it to the battery. If it turns over, then you know the starter is good. This test takes the computer and most electronics out of the equation.
The relays under the dash click, and one could be bad. Swap in the defroster relay with the starter relay to test.
Hook the truck up to a good sized running car, after a few minutes and the jump car in fast idle, try and jump off your truck.
Your issue is either:
Bad relay
Bad battery
Bad starter
I had the trifecta happen a week after buying my 2002 excursion. Had to replace it all! Good news is I was able to test it all out and got the truck running.
