Was wondering if anyone has had this issue. My '05' with 56k miles all the sudden has started dropping mileage badly. About two months ago, we were running around 16 to 16.5 consistently. Since then it has just started dropping, seems to be gradual. Over this time it has dropped to 13.5 to 14. Had the Ford shop check computer. Air cleaner is good. THey say no codes or issues. I am wondering if I should try changing the Oxygen sensor.
I'm not sure of where you are, but around here my fuel mileage drops off about 2 mpg this time of year, given all the snow and oxygenated fuel we have to use.
I know the temp and fuel blends can have and affect, but this is the first year I have had this problem. Tonight I noticed the mileage indicator said 13.9. I don't think I have ever seen it that low. I can't figure out why such a drop. I fill up at a variety of locations, so I don't think the fuel supply is the problem.
One time i had an 87 F150 that dropped off. I finally pulled the muffler and ran a steel rod through the CAT. that was good for about 1.5 mpg, plus more power. But I really don't want to do that with my exp.
Hi
I'm not an expert by any means and I just bought an 03 Expedition. Some times we over look the simplest things, tire pressure and or air filter. I have the 5.4L
A couple of weeks after I picked up my truck I put new tires on it and pumped up the pressure a bit to about 40PSI. I noticed a slight increase in MPG. then I put in a Spectre airfilter and drove it for a week. I noticed another slight increase in MPG. I'd saw over all I gained about 1.5 to 2 MPG than when I drove it off the lot.

I drop a few MPG in the colder months due to allowing warm up times. If you're letting it warm up 10-15 minutes each morning then that will account for a good chunk of the MPG drop. Just a thought.

That can be attributed to you having a lighter foot/less aggressive driving style than the previous owner. Those are the best changes to make for anyone who REALLY wants to improve gas mileage.
