Is there something special about Texaco diesel fuel? Reason I ask is that I started using it for the first time and have noticed an increase in fuel mileage with it. I've been through two tanks now and my mileage went from an average of 17 to 18 highway to 19 to 21 highway. I really haven't noticed anything else as far as how it runs or less knock.

I don't know what is special. But when there was a local Texaco (gone now). I noticed the same thing with a 95PSD truck I had. Went from an average 16 mpg hwy on any other fuel to 20 mpg hwy with Texaco fuel.
Keep an open mind about this. I'm not saying Texaco is not giving you better mileage, but remember there's a possibility that the other places were just giving you worse mileage.
I stopped buying fuel at Walmart because my mileage suffered. Maybe Texaco has it figured out. Maybe it's just buying from a major brand that's the difference.
If the price is decent, I'd say keep shopping at the same station.
I have always run Southern States or BP in my diesels and saw 15 or so MPG in the city. When SS switched over to 50 Cetane I started running straight SS and saw my mileage bump up to 17-18 mpg in the city. What is the Texaco Cetane rating?
I've only ever trusted the one BP station and SS as they both went through diesel at a decent rate, resulting in always having fresh fuel for the taking.
I don't know the cetane rating of the Texaco I am buying it didn't show it anywhere on the pump. I kinda of agree with F350-6 suggestion, it could be that all the other places I've been buying from give worse mileage. I did the harpoon mod to my fuel tank fill hose a long time ago and always fill up to the same line each time, that's the nice thing about that mod you can only get maybe one gallon more in after it cuts off.

Some fuel stations add cetane booster. The Apple/Kwik Fill stations around here do. I see better fuel mileage when I get fuel at one of their stations, but unfortunately they are not very conveniently located.
My truck also liked Texaco. I don't think I got any better MPG but my truck seemed to be happier running on it. For some reason their additive package agreed with my engine.
I agree with Chris, it is probably decent fuel with a higher cetane number. You could try the fuel you have been buying and add some Stanadyne Performance to boost the cetane and see if that gives you a MPG boost as well, then you'll know. Course there's so many variables not to mention winter fuel is hitting the pumps now too.
I run Power Service White Bottle in the winter and Silver Bottle in the Summer. I used to use Stanadyne but cannot find it locally and it's a little pricey.
