Climate control

Hi guys new member here I have an 04 EB my question is when I turn on the climate control set for 75 degrees the A/C light turns on it is about 30 degrees outside I do get heat and I can turn the A/C off but why does that light turn on?

In automatic mode the compressor is turned on and the temperature in the cabin is maintained by varying the blend door between the hot and cold air.

At 30F, the compressor likely isn't operating anyway although the EATC is trying to turn it on.
