Senior project build
But on a lighter note I got the engine stand fixed so the new S&J long block got mounted up
I decided that since the day was overs would see what the new hedmen hedders would look like on the new motor
I also pulled the front clip into my garage to re paint the inner fenders and clean up the rusty battery box and far gone passenger inner fender.
This is what I am working with a lot of rust and bolts that just don't want to move.
This is what is left of one of them after trying to loosen the bolt
Finally got the thing out and this is what it looks like.
I decided to clean up all the surface rust and will give it a fresh coat of paint once the weather warms up. Here is a picture for comparison.
Also I have decided to pull the transmission and transfer case. So to clean it up and make the whole process easier I pulled the carpet and seat to get access to the inspection plate.
Transfer case and tranny should be out in the next day or so, just having some difficulties with separating the t-case from the tranny. Also I got some original valve covers off an old f600 cab over truck that I am going to get hot tanked and repainted the original ford blue.
I dismantled the old motor and found out that the previous owner had the clutch replaced not too long ago, if you look closely you can still see there is a sticker on the clutch to indicate which side faces the flywheel. I'm Taking the clutch and flywheel to a professional sometime this week to get their opinion on wether or not I should replace them or keep both.
I decided that well the motor was out that I would take a brush to the frame in the interior and free it from the years of dirt and oil that have coated the frame and floor pans for the past 38 years
Here is a picture of the vin stamp on the frame rail all cleaned up
I also got the trans and transfer case all cleaned up, but I can't decide weather to paint them or what color to paint them If I choose to do so
I also finally got my inner fender installed and peeped for paint. It doesn't look as good as the oringinal but I feel so much better with out having the battery sitting on a thin sheet of rusted out metal.
I also finally got my marti report back along with door tag and they are perfect. It's nice to know my truck was bought locally.

Your truck seems to be a bit of a Hodgepodge, they all are.
The engine towers on the frame seem to have been installed in an interesting fashion, are they just held on with a couple bolts?
While your engine is apart I suggest you write down ALL the stamping numbers you can find, this may help you in the future.
We do a monthly meet, you should come check one out. For future reference, Wa has more of these trucks in junkyards than I like to admit to people but this makes finding parts EASY, there's no need for Ebay or cheaper reproduction parts unless you're looking for something unusual.
Running the ferry over isn't something I'd do too often but could probably run over on a weekend. Do you have a welder or would it require me loading mine up?
Does your High School have an Ag Mechanics class or a weld shop, in Arlington we were allowed to work on personal projects sometimes.
I also made some more progress on both inner fenders. I took a few scotch bright pads and scuffed them up in preparation for paint.
I also got the flywheel back all resurfaced and new ring gear
