My fuel pressure gauge is bouncing. Pretty sure it's a bad sending unit but want to make sure. For those of you who have direct reading gauges for testing what brand are you using. Think I want something small that I can leave installed in the engine bay but haven't decided for sure.
Thanks,
I assume youre asking about mechanical gauges, right? I have a Harbor Freight fuel injection test set that someone gave me. All I had to do was buy the adapter to the ORB port on the filter housing. Plenty of hose to snake it out to the windshield so I can drive and see it at the same time.
Yeah Picka, was thinking a small liquid filled gauge to mount on the fuel bowl permanently or figure out some kind of quick disconnect for trouble shooting. Seems I've read quite a few threads were after market gauges have failed. If fuel gauge in cab starts acting funny it will be a quick way to confirm if it's a real problem or if the gauge going south.
Paul, is there any way that you are able to monitor your electrical system voltage? I currently monitor my fuel pressure with an electrical gauge, and it bounces around. I also monitor my voltage with a scangauge II, and it bounces around a lot, I am wondering if the bouncing around could be a voltage related issue. I don't know.
sgarder,
pretty sure it's a bad gauge. it's going from 60 to 100 down to zero back to 100 etc etc. will even go to zero and stay for 10 to 15 secs and the truck never misses a beat. It just got me thinking that if it did this again after I got it fixed I want to know right away if it's a real fuel issue.
