Not sure if the wires were for the tcase or the tranny. I just cut em spliced em with some butt connectors and heat shrink taped them up and checked all the fuses under the dash and the hood. Then I rechecked for power to that connector and nothing. Next step all I can think to do is find the connector for the GEM and back probe it and see if power is coming in and then see if it comes back out to the 4wd. Just not sure which pins to back probe to figure that out. Any ideas?
Did you try to reset the GEM? disconnect the batteries for 15 minutes, those wires could have tripped a code and is locking the 4x4 out, scan tool would be better but batteries will work too, just screws the radio and stuff up.
I have the negative battery cables pulled off right now. Shouldn't matter negative or positive should it? Should I leave it all night or just like 20-30 minutes good?
Here is a diagram of the ESOF system. Its for a 99 but it should be the same for a 2000. Also do a search on here for ESOF and you will get a bunch of threads. I know Robin (Payson PSD) (Rest in Peace Brother) was a wizard at figuring out 4x4 problems and has tons of info on here for you to read through. Did you check the relays in the eng bay? Those were prone to going bad. I use to have on how to test the relays but cant seem to find it now. Maybe someone can help me out and post it if they have it.
I will definitely check that out. The relays seemed to be fine. At least I swapped them with some good ones didn't make any change unfortunately . Thanks!
Bigorange, do you have power to the switch itself?
If so, use a jumper after you pull the switch with koeo and see if you hear movement.
If you have power to the switch...........trace down from there. I know you stated that there were broken wires that you mended on the TC. Same coded loom from the switch should go to where you did your repairs.
Power to the switch good. Leave it in 4 hi or lo and get down there and check for voltage. No voltage beyond the switch.
Switcherroo. Pop yours out and borrow one for testing. (Good friends drive superdutys right?)
Well we got a new GEM put in and flashed by the dealership. Got it back and still does not work. Only change I noticed is now I can get 6 volts to the switch. The switch itself ohms out properly in all settings. The two wires that go from the relays to the shift motor have continuity telling me they are not broken. Hooked some power to the relays they click on and off just fine they work. I get power to pin 85 on both relays. However, key on engine off and engine on when I unplug the two wire connector that comes from the relays to the shift motor, the same one that has good wires, no power when switching between all the settings on the 4wd switch. The 4wd lights on the dash still only come on while cranking the engine. I am lost from here. Any ideas? Only thing I can think I haven't tested was checking for breaks in the big connector that has like 6 wires or so on the tcase. I fixed the breaks in the wire I could find. Thanks everyone!
