My girlfriend just got a 2000 f250 7.3. Went to use the 4wd for the first time the other night didn't wanna go into 4wd. No light no nothing. Pulled the electrical connector of the shift motor no power. Switched relays made no difference. Unplugged the switch on the dash cant get any power out of the connector there either. The light on the switch lights up with the dash lights but when I unplug the switch I cant get any power on my meter. Fuses are also all good. Any suggestions? The GEM possibly? Thanks!!
I'm not good with wiring myself but start a new post and ask for wiring diagram of the circuit. There's guys on here that are good. And this has been trouble shooted before.
Doubt the switch is the problem, no 4x4 hi, no 4x4 low, no 2 wd what are the chances of all the switches going bad at the same time? broken wires on the frame is a little scary, back probe the wires on the motor when you push the 4wd or low, use a test light, see if you get juice there, all that goes through the GEM module, did you scan for codes? reset the module and see what happens
Yea, that gets me alittle nervous as well, the switch sends the signal to the GEM, the Gem closes the relays for the motor to work. What were the wires on the frame you had trouble with? How did they break? could they have shorted against the frame? Is the Gem seeing the proper signals for the 4x4 to work?
