67 flatbed

i checked the vin no. on my flatbed and found out it originnaly had a 360 in it not a straight six,someone replaced the engine that was in there with a 300 six out of a 91, it works but overheats probably because no fan shroud and a water pump from a 67 i didn't know that part would interchange but that is what someone rednecked it. the radiator has a big chunk of jb weld in the middle that probably doesn't help oh well it was a freebee i just had to tow it about 100 miles with no tranny and using a towbar pulled by a 94 aerostar with a 3.0 made it but overheated the van in traffic during rush hour YEAH! so should i put a 360 in or try to find a 300 of the right year?

The 300s I owned of that vintage didn't have much of a shroud, just a little top cover. They also used a really dinky radiator and a 6 cyl core support with a smaller opening, and never had a heating problem. If yours still has the 360 radiator, it's much larger, shouldn't be a heating issue if it's a healthy radiator.

No such thing as a 6 cylinder core support.

1967/72 F100/350:

C7TZ-16138-A .. Radiator Support-Use with standard/xtra cooling and A/C radiators.

C7TZ-16138-B .. Radiator Support-Use with Super Cooling Radiator that was only available with 352 (1967) and 360/390 (1968/72).

I believe he is referring to the smaller cutout some of the core supports have. Some people believe they were for the 6.

Make sure the 6 has the proper year waterpump. I believe the older ones spin in the opposite direction from the newer ones. This would cause the overheating.

2X Greg. V-belt water pumps and serp. belted pumps spin opposite of each other. I'd flush the whole cooling system,replace the t-stat, and get the radiator re-cored.

V belt water pumps also had a stronger cast impeller wheel. My engine has the original water pump in it from 45 years ago.

I believe a 67 would have had a 352 not a 360. Don't know where you got your info from.

Check the VIN on the top of the passenger side frame rail just ahead of where the axle crosses under and see if it indeed matches the title.

The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code.

D = 352 2V = 1965 F100/350.

Y = 352 2V = 1966/67 F100/350.

Y = 360 2V = 1968/76 F100/350.
