1971 camper special, 300 straight 6, no A/C, having local oreilly auto parts looking for me, this radiator needs flange towards front of truck, not engine side, the radiator they show works for this truck has flange on engine side, would also like a shroud but need to find correct radiator first, i may have to go to 800 radiator but trying local first, any thoughts?
I had the hardest time finding a radiator for my 300 when it went bad. The auto parts kept trying ones for a 300 and non would work. I ended up ordering one for a 390, and found a hose that would work for the bottom.
They didn't come with a shroud afaik.
It's been a lot of years since I put one in my 72 but the one they sent fit. Not sure how you put a 390 rad, the 300 has it's own core support with a lot smaller opening than the V8s. Was the provision there for the wider radiator?
i saw that one on line, o reilly found one for me, that one i'll bet would work, it's even less expensive then o reilly's, if the one oreilly gets me doesn't work i'm going to look into that one
thanks
Does anyone sell a new radiator for this truck with brass tanks as the original? I can only find plastic or aluminum, both of which are unsuitable for a restoration IMO.

My truck had the wide opening already in it. Maybe that's why I had such a hard time finding a radiator. Didn't the 300's with ac come with the wide radiator?

The tanks were originally painted black, so no one would know whether the replacement radiator tanks are plastic or aluminum, if you paint them black.

Phooey. I can easily tell the diff between the plastic ones and the original in the pics, much less in person. It's pretty obvious. Remember that these are not crossflow radiators where the tanks are on the sides, the tank is right up on top and prominently displayed when you open the hood. I know you already know this, Bill.
The aluminum ones are even worse as they have no fins or indentations in the tanks, they are just smooth across.
