what is the rules for thread responce 1 mth 6 mth 1 yr there are not to many recent one thatfit in with the info i am trying to disimulate sorry if i wated peoples time by responding to older threads i just like giving my two cents worth to topics that interest me from now on i will just read them and maybe start a thread of my own.
No sense in going that far the other direction. There's a middle here. Chiming in to be humorous or informative on current threads is what it's all about. It's non-productive to reply to Stuff that's been fixed that far back.
69issofine, unlike Jeff, I have been here since there were only about 50 members total on the site. Folk came here with questions about their trucks, we tried to help resolve them. Once the OP was happy the thread started sinking down with new ones coming to the top that we tried to help. Sometimes a newbie would post a question and never respond, we have no way of knowing if they got the answer here or elsewhere that they posted about. Our goal is to help folk resolve their concerns about their Ford truck.
Going back into the pile and responding to a "dead" thread isn't what made this Forum #1 of Ford truck forums. It serves no propose other than adding to your post count to respond to those old threads.
We have a sitting out on the porch mentality here, pull up a chair sit with us, share what you can and please stay current.
There isn't a rule, per se, but good netiquette dictates different responses for older threads. Popping one up with something like "I have a similar issue, did you ever resolve this?" is perfectly fine, and is what makes this a good informative site. However, digging up a five to ten year old thread that died off and posting like it's an ongoing thing isn't necessarily helpful.
The "similar threads" selection below isn't helping, I know, and there are some discussions on what to do with it. Just remember to check dates before replying and you'll be good to go.
This is why it is important for anyone starting a thread to complete the thread.
If you ask a question and get your answer and the response worked, then please post that it worked and the thread dies.
A lot of people never let us know that they found a solution and the thread keeps going, The original poster never returns. It helps us help you to find the solutions your looking for. Otherwise, we keep responding with no response from the OP. So please let us know what worked and what didn't.

There also seems to be a fair amount of original posters who just keep the thread going without ever seeming to try the cures other members suggest. I think it's the tinted windows/custom wheel crowd who just want a pat answer and really aren't equipped, capable or willing to do any kind of diagnostics no matter how simple or well spelled out.
