I was scanning craigslist today when I happened to come across this. Now I don't know the value of bumpsides (I'm a dent guy), but I can't imagine one being worth this much..
The auto classifieds are full of pet projects like this. Projects like this are a labor of love. Even with receipts, you can't expect to get out of something like this what you put into it.
Heck, I'd rather have faded but solid truck than something with who-knows-what under a polished surface.
But if you take a lot of pictures and write a lot of words, it makes them worth more.
Realistically if they bought a lot of NOS parts, they could have more than that into it pretty easy. But then, their bad choice doesn't make it worth more.
You have to keep in mind that it's a dealer price, so it's automatically more expensive than a private seller. If was $20,000, I'd probably pay it if the restoration was done well.
I don't know......I'm thinking the opposite. If the documentation and pics of the full restoration is there, and if I had the cash, I might buy it. Biggest reason is that it would be close to what new F-150s cost and the mechanical repairs would cost way less.

Try about double that for a new F150 4x4. I owned those trucks new back when and no way would repairs be less than a new one. Maybe less money for any given repair but in scope of how often they need repaired, the old truck will be nickel and diming you to death long before the new F150 even needs spark plugs.
No AC, No disc brakes, No over drive nothing real special other the power steering.
just a clean truck to stock exhaust logs. And maybe reassembled with LMC Rubber products..
