Just bought a 2008 f250 powerstroke that has the factory touch screen navigation but not the sync. the screen is just black. nothing works. it has power because it does illuminate when you turn truck on but stays on black screen. i tried the battery disconnect for half an hour and that did not fix it.

is the thing toast and if so is there such a thing as an aftermarket radio like sony or pioneer that i can plug and play in stead of paying thousands at ford to replace with oem?

or is this fixable?

Since you do not have Sync, you can get a replacement from another company that would fit and work ok. Check your local stereo shop or eBay. I do not think i would try repairing the current radio. Might also contact you local junk yard to see if they stock any Ford Nav radios....
