OMG Thread Vader. ...Nevermind breaking things... it's causing a spark while attempting to remove it that should be of concern... No drills or steel pry tools. Brass tools would be preferred.

Consider a locksmith lest ya wanna blow your azz up to kingdom come.

I would unfasten neck from the inside the cab and withdraw the filler neck from the body seal to work on it elsewhere. In the end, it may mean a replacement neck and cap.

I found a brand new locking cap at the J/Y its a stanz brand, and the key from my old gas cap is also a stanz, the keys are almost identical, ether one opens both gas caps.

Hahaha HIO....thread Vader I thought the same thing when I seen the name under the thread title. I'd remove the filler tube from the tank like mentioned above so no sparks ignite more problems then just a lost key. Also you could take it to a lock smith and maybe save acouple bucks from him needing to make a house call.

When I saw the name I thought the same thing. At which point I was going to suggest using a torch to get the cap off.

Might still be a good idea.

Making a new key is not cheap as it's fit & file until it unlocks..
Cheaper to replace the cap or if you have the key code number.

Locking gas caps come with 2 keys, So does this mean you lose 2 keys?
Or have the other key hide out some where..?

Prying it off, or using a big Fxxking Hammer could remove it.

Or hit the PnP and get one neck and cap until you find your keys.

2X Orich. Getting a JY (junk yard) filler neck and a new cap would be the cheapest, safest, and easiest.
BTW,glad to see you're "back to the future".

Be careful in what you're buying from a junk yard, because...

The in-cab fuel tank filler neck used on 1970/72's with Evaporative Emission is different than the one used on 1967/72's without.

The fuel cap is also different...as it's non vented.
