gas cap

haha, a few weeks ago i bought a 75 ford f-250 highboy. today i was planning on getting a day permett and driving it home ubt i realized that it doesnt have enough gas to make it into town and i dont have the key for my locking gas cap?

Either get a locksmith to make a replacement key. Or take a 1/2" dia hardened drill bit & drill the cylinder out of the cap. . . . FWIW, 2nd solution wastes the cap usually.

what I had to do was to pry the metal cover off of the gas cap, then you should be able to see the 2 locking clips. then just gently pry work it free with a screwdriver or something.

They are usually made of potmetal or plastic and can be pried of easily.
