Look at what NJ legislation is working on!

http://legiscan.com/NJ/bill/S2418/2014

NJ State Legislature page for S2418

Status: Engrossed on December 1 2014 - 50% progress
Action: 2014-12-04 - Received in the Assembly, Referred to Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee
Pending:*Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee
Text:*Latest bill text (Introduced) [HTML]

Summary

Prohibits retrofitting diesel-powered vehicles to increase particulate emissions for the purpose of "coal rolling"; prohibits the practice of "coal rolling".

I didn't know it was such a problem but apparently it pissed off the two sponsors of the bill.

Been waiting for some place to do that.
I think they need to step that one up a bit. 2nd time that you get busted
for it they take your truck and make you mix up a large batch of grout
and you have to pour it into the intake and exhaust system. They could sell
tickets to the event. BUT that money must go to something like the local "Boys and Girls Club"
with no side trips to the state piggy bank.

Oh and you have to pay for the grout. No Tax money for that.

Most states already have laws on the books, improper exhaust, excessive smoke etc. This is just feel good medicine for the sheep.

And that moron was the coal roller not the senator. I don't have much going for politicians but in this case you get what you sow.

If I can"t see the grill in my rear view mirror they get brake checked unless it's a Prius, they get the windshield washers first then a brake check. It's usually always good for a 1 finger salute and I just smile and wave at them. As long as they are behind me they are entertainment and fair game.

I guess not all coal rollers are bad people.

Found this on the Keystone Coal Rollers facebook page.

With my SCT tunes it only smokes if I floor it before turbo spools up. But I think someone should sponsor a bill to stop aggressive driving in Beemers. I would have been tempted to do something like that if someone was tailgating me for instance.

the idiot responsible for this legislation was driving a dodge.
and the idiots pushing for passage of the bill are just as stupid as the dodge drivers, claim removing the muffler or putting "smoke stacks in the bed" causes the truck to blow black smoke.
also, the law does not say you can not push black smoke, it states you can not push black smoke for more than 3 seconds.

But isn't it the ones that are the most misinformed, the ones that get bills pushed through and it takes years to repeal it. Look what Whitman wanted to do back in the 90's with taking the old cars off the road if they didn't pass the dyno test......that lasted a long time..........not

Back in the late 70's there was a Ca. congressman that wanted seat belts on all motorcycles. You obviously can guess how many MC's he'd ridden on.
There was another one during the first oil embargo that wanted to put a 2 dollar a gal. tax on gas to slow down its use. He said publicly that poor people didn't need to drive. He wasn't re-elected.
