Hello. I wanted to introduce myself to the members of this forum as this is where I will be spending most of my time on the site. I currently have a 1971 F250, its a 390/C6 2wd. I'm looking to learn more about the older trucks as my dad is planning a restoration of my grandfathers 69 F350. I've mainly been about newer diesels but the old iron is becoming very close to my heart as of late. Hoping to use the forum for insite and knowledge. Thank you for reading the windy first post.
Some of the best trucks Ford ever made. Does yours have disc brakes or power steering?
Thanks for the welcome.
To be honest I haven't even had time to really check out the truck. Bought it on impulse, trailered it home, and stored it in the garage. Hope to start investigating it more after the new year.
Lotsa good guys in here willing to exercise their brain cells to assist in your endeavor.
That's a beautiful Bumpside, that you have. Mine isn't nearly as mint however that's the case when you live in a place where snow and salt are a part of your winter.
Curiosity has me wondering, how hard is it to place a 460 in these trucks?
Reason being that I have a very nice 500hp 460 sitting on a stand in my garage. Built the motor for a guy and he never finished paying for the engine build. I think it would be awesome to have it in this truck if its possible.
Many guys have install the 460 but it won't bolt up the 360/390 bell housing.
So you'll have get a bell housing for the type of tranny you want to use.
I'm not up 460 swaps but, thinking best to get the whole matching bell housing & tranny to make things easier for the swap over..

First off, as one veteran to another, Thanks for your service, Vietnam vets have my greatest admiration.
I was thinking of grabbing a E40D from a 90's truck with a 460 so I have the right transmission and the plus is that overdrive is gained for better mpg's. Anybody's thoughts on this?
