i havent plugged in yet this year, i usually wait tell its under 0F then i plug in.
my old idi 6.9 will start without being plugged in tell about -10f then after that it gets a little difficult so i usually plug in then.
Oh nice, at Riley if I'm not plugged in running my 125' extension cord from the barracks, I'm suckin trying to get started. My buddy had a 6.9 dually. A shot of ether in the intake and it fired right up! I don't think his glow plugs even worked anymore. He ended up selling it though for an F150.
ya them powerstrokes are allot harder to start in the cold then the old IDI engines. i never use ether tho as i blew a head gasket one time using it. it was -25F not plugged in, and half the glow plugs were shot, i had to get to work. well that didnt happen. still got that engine laying around here waiting to have a new head gasket put in. you should have seen that upper radiator hose expanding like a balloon when it was running.

I never use Ether/starting fluid etc on my 7.3. The 6.9 is different beast being naturally aspirated. And can start it without glow plugs, being a push to activate system.
Are you using the auto skills shop? I enjoy working there, and it's heated! I watched it on my buddy's F150, he was overheating real bad. That upper rad hose almost started melting.
Well talked to the owner of the red one... won't go lower than 4k. Still haven't seen it in person though so I don't know what to think really. That $500 feels like a lot on something I haven't see yet, but I guess once I see it I'll know exactly one way or the other how I feel about the truck.
Is the red one the V10 with 168k? Because if I was in the market for one right now I would be mailing my check for that right now, providing someone check it out and confirm there is no rust and the interior is decent.

I'm the closest by a few hours I'll be looking at it Saturday morning though. I'll let you (and the rest of the forum) know what's up with it If I don't get it and it is a decent truck I'll help get it to you though.

Totally would go for it but in a couple days I'm buying a ring that costs about as much as that EX if ya know what I mean.
10am tomorrow morning meeting him to look at it. Got this email from him this morning:
I want to make sure that you know everything about the X. It has to have a right lower ball joint in order to pass inspection. I took it a couple of weeks ago and that was the only thing that didn't pass. The ball joint is $27 at Advance Auto and the labor is $150. The other people that I have priced it to, I have told them that I can have it fixed and leave the price at $4500 or they can fix it and I will sale it for $4300. So you would still be getting the best price at $4000. If you want me to have it fixed then I can sale it to you for $4175. I would assume that you would want to fix it yourself. The driver's side mirror is cracked but still passed inspection. Under heavy braking it has a little bit of rotor wobble or vibration. Just needs to have the rotors turned. No big deal there at all. That is basically all that I know that it needs. I do have the inspection sheet showing that the ball joint was the only thing that failed. It really is a pretty nice looking X. $4000 is a very good deal for it.
Sent him this back:
I can swap the mirror glass from mine over. Can you tell me what the issue with the climate control is? I was planning on either fixing it or swapping my parts over to fix it and just wanted an idea of what I would be getting into.
Then got this:
There isn't an issue with the climate control. I didn't type that correctly on the craigslist ad. My bad. The air and heat actually work really well. You will need to move your entire mirror. The case is cracked also.
So I guess the CC is fine and the only issue is the front end work.
A little friendly advice here...Make sure you check over that whole front end very well, Just because it passed doesn't rule out the fact that other components may have barely passed. Also, check all four tires for abnormal wear just in-case they rotated the front abnormally worn tires to the rear.
sound like someone from another country, the russians are bad up here selling cars and not telling people they have salvage titles. i dont know how people buy them without knowing....
Turn the rotor all you want, the pulsating warped feel will come back. The rig needs new rotors.
Stewart
Are the rotors the same as the 2wds? I know this sounds dumb, but I'll turn my rotors and put new pads on it and then just buy some cheap autozone pads and rotors to throw on it.
