2006 Ford Escape 2 Wheel Drive XLT Automatic
I have a 2006 Ford escape 2 wheel drive xlt automatic that recently has been having battery/alternator issues. 1st purchased new battery and then had to purchase a new alternator. It was running fine for about a month and then on Halloween night the battery light started to light up and then went off and on again. Took back to the shop because we were told another belt pully was loose and would need replacing soon so I figured it was just a simple fix. Well turns out when I had the ac compressor replaced the belts or something like that was put on too tightly or incorrectly causing the pullys to all be unalined. So a month later I got the car back and a week later after having a brand new battery and replacement alternator I was driving it and the battery light flashed on and off again just like before. Unlike before there was a squeaky noise under the hood and a rattle noise because of the pully vibrating. Obviously I know something is not working right because the light came on and off again. Could it be just a faulty sensor causing it this time or could it really be a bigger issue with the charging of the battery or the alternator? Taking it back to shop tomorrow because I am a single mom of 2 and can't be with out a vehicle any longer. So any help is appreciated.

You might consider checking the qualifications of your current mechanics. The pulley alignment and looseness problems don't take much skill to fix. The mis-alignment seems to be a possible indicator of lack of attention to detail. The alternator is difficult to remove and replace, in that it is not accessible and you have to remove other things to get room.
If I had paid someone to do this work, I would expect that it would have some guaranty that it was done correctly. Your tech should fix this at no charge. If not, s/he may be taking your money under false pretenses.
