Battery Light

My battery light flickers on and off, sometimes its steady, other times it is off. I had the battery checked and it seems fine. The terminal connections are clean and tight. Does this mean my alternator is going out? I wanted to check around b4 taking it to Ford for no reason.

Have the alternator checked (requires removing it) but that what it sounds like. When they check it make sure they test it under a load too.

Usually the brushes are not keeping contact from wear and rough surfaces due to age.

Thanks for the info, I switched out the alternator and the light went away. I went ahead and installed a new serpentine belt since it already needed to be loosened to take out the old alternator. 2 birds, one stone.
