Speaker + grill

my 64 CC has an original radio.

The speaker grill is black plastic and is held on the dash with double sided tape.

There is no speaker.

The hold for the speaker is 3.5in-ish diameter and round with 4 screw holes that look like they would be for a 4x6 speaker.

Why don't I have the slotted speaker cutout like my 66 had?

This is the only dash I have seen with a round hole instead of the rectangular slotted cutout.

Can you take a picture and post it? Amazing some of the things we have seen from a written description versus a picture. Like the guy who thought his paint code was BV but once he posted a picture it was clear to us that it was BM.

The separate removable speaker grilles that came on top of the padded dash that I've seen were metal and painted black in most cases. Never seen a factory plastic speaker grille in one of these trucks.

Does your truck have the padded dash, or at least, did it?

I don't think its a factory grill, its plastic.

No idea if I had a padded dash or not.

Why would I have a round speaker hole instead of the factory slotted cutout.

My 66 CC had the slotted cutout and no grill or holes for a grill.

I thought you were talking about one of your trucks but now it sounds like you are referring to yourself instead of a truck or other vehicle. I was asking if your truck had a padded dash, not if you had a padded dash.

Pictures?

The padded dash would include the grill where the unpadded dash would normally have just the series of parallel slits in the metal dash.

But, now starting to wonder if you haven't taken a pretty good hit to the noggin' lately or something like that. Dain bramaged? Lol.

I did some surfing. It seems the stamped speaker cutout was for the 65-66 trucks. Us redheaded 61-64 guys just got a round hole in the dash.

Im not planning on installing a speaker, but I do want a correct grill instead of the plastic grill held on with double sided tape that is now covering the hole.

If I ever decide that I need a radio, which I doubt, I will do speakers under the seat.

1964? I'm so sorry. Was it your choice or at gun point?

Best truck for the money that I could find.

No doubt that the twin I-beam trucks are better drivers when they are up to factory specs, my 64 is tight, rides and steers like it did when new.

There are lots of things I like about the 64, here are a few.

Easier to lower.
Same front/rear track width
Easier to pull the cluster
Plenty of core supports available, try and say that about a 66.
Cab steps
Y-block
Don't have to spend a bunch of money on PS and PB.
Grills are sexy

I like 'em all, just can't keep up with ya. Thought you had a 66...

The grills are cool with the floating rectangles. Sexy? Scary Sexy. Schoo's 1964 4x4 is perfect example. Nice looking truck overall.

My 66 F250 4x4 core supports are even reproduced. But all my trucks have almost perfect supports but the exception of the 2WD which has a tiny piece cut out on the right inner opening for A/C that was added (deep So Cal, so I can't blame Max for wanting that). I'll patch in a piece there.
The 66 F250 4x4 Custom Cab cluster is same as yours. I understand about the sweep cluster. Not Ford's finest moment there.
Cab steps, too, in the 66 F250 4x4. The 2WD is a bit weird there.
I prefer manual steering and drum brakes, too. I'm thinking of adding a 65/66 booster that I have to the 2WD just for the conversation piece.
I'm not as much into lowering as some guys. Next to my two F250 4x4 trucks the 2WD seems like a low rider already. Hahaha.
I'm not sure about track width but the 4x4 might be wider in front. I think from behind you can see the front tires sticking past the rears slightly on both sides. Helps clear a path for the rears when off-roading.
The Y blocks are cool.
I've got a NOS 427 side oiler block that I'm building up to replace the old 352.

Here's the booster I picked up

The top grill is from the 2WD truck. Is the second one down for the earlier trucks? Any pictures of what the grill should look like that you have located?

My grill looks like the top on, except its plastic.

Im going to keep my drums until they need replacing, but that could be years from now at 2-3k per year.

I have a generic booster and single pot m/c that I bought for one of my 65 Mustangs that I think will adapt to the F100 pretty easy, but Im in no hurry to do so, I have to many other projects going on right now.

I wanted to lower my 64, but now I think I will just drop the back to level it out. The fridges look good lowered, but a 61-66 flareside doesn't have the same look to it when you drop it down.

My '65 has a round hole with a screen and a grille to cover it (its a custom cab). My '66 has a slotted opening with the same grille to cover it. Both retained by small J-nuts and screws. Let me know if you need a metal grill, I have an extra.

I do need the metal grill. Today I figured out why my plastic grill is held on with tape, the holes don't match up. They are off by about an 1/8in.
